Top Tips For Working Safely From Home

You know how important your safety is to us, and with the difficult times we’re facing right now, we want to make your safety as easy as possible. So, we thought we would collate a list of our top tips and resources to get you, your business and your family through this difficult time safely and cost effectively.

Home Office With most of us now working from home, it’s important we make sure we are doing that as carefully as possible. Offices are designed to have a better capability for running lots of appliances and accommodating a heavy workload. Most of our homes however, are not.

Here’s our top tips for having a safe and efficient home office.

Socket Safety

We didn’t choose the plug life, it chose us. Therefore, it’s only right, we share our knowledge with you…

1) Don’t overload your extension lead - As tempting as it can be for convenience, it’s a bad idea that could cause a fire.

2) Turn plugs sockets off when you aren’t using them. Not only will this save you money, it will reduce the risk of electrical fires and shocks.

3) Better still, unplug all appliances when they aren’t in use, even the new ones!

Money Saving Tips With most of us now being at home all the time, our power usage has increased quite dramatically, which can be rather expensive.

For example, did you know that having your lights on at home for an extra eight hours a day adds around £700 wasted energy per year?! Now, we’re not saying you have to wrap up in ski gear each day, but there are a few things you could do in order to save some money.

With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility

As well as saving money, we all need to think about protecting our planet. While we will be using more power now with being at home, there are plenty of steps we can take to ensure we are being as environmentally friendly with our power usage as possible. We loved this article from The Energy Saving Trust here.
